Generation Z is a passionate, activist generation coming of age in a time of great turmoil. I think older generations can help them by teaching them how to make real connections in a world where human interaction is becoming more and more challenging. What advice would you give to Generation Z as they start a new school year?

I would tell them to not read anything referencing Gen Z since GenerationalTheory is pseudoscience BS that was debunked a long time ago and only continues to be trendy because it makes large amounts of profit for companies and individuals peddling it. In addition to not being based on accurate data, and just being a money-making scam, Generational Theorycreates a focus on inaccurate and negative stereotypes and what is different about people, instead of what they have in common. Andworst of all, itgives incompetent and ineffective supervisors and companies an excuse and someone or somethingother than themselvesto blame for low employee engagement and retention.

Join a sport team: to develop team spirit, to learn how to find your place in a new team, how to cooperate, how to make group decisions, to practice connecting to others, to be healthy, to clear up your mind of stressful stuff happening to you, to learn to receive coaching and mentoring, to learn how to coach others and lead, to learn how to loose and how to win, etc.

Understand the two types of Intelligence - Fluid and Crystallized. Fluid intelligence is defined as the ability to solve new problems, use logic in new situations, and identify patterns. In contrast, crystallized intelligence is defined as the ability to use learned knowledge and experience. Together they are a powerful force when people collaborate together! Instead of categorizing ourselves in generations and casting stones, we need to see ourselves as a cohesive unit bringing together the gifts of problem solving from the beginners mind to the experienced mind.#alwayslearning #upskillcreate

One of the best things we can do for Gen Z is to play various kinds of games indoors and outdoors and I am not talking difficult games that some cannot do, but to learn to do things together, fostering teamwork, teaching them to help and support others is fulfilling and builds your own identity and confidence. Combine this with the good use of technology to teach them that it can be used positively and in an authentic way.

Learn from the setbacks of past gens, leverage the gift of technology to move forward, embrace connection, dream big, and then roll up your sleeves and do the work. Progress and experience will come from the work because we cannot live it or do it for them. And, we will be there to nurture along the way.
