Mary Jane Q Cross of Newport New Hampshire was born in Rockville, Connecticut. She studied at The Wooster Art Museum School in 1970. At a later point, 1983, she studied with Daniel Green in New York, and influenced by him, she has completed over one-hundred portraits.

Some of her time between studies was spent teaching art classes.

Cross started to incorporate her knowledge of portrait and figure as a devise to produce Biblical Murals. She was honored with a one-woman show in 1991 at The Biblical Art Center Museum in Dallas, Texas. Some of her subjects were used by "Upper Room Magazine" as covers along with interior illustrations. Her current paintings featuring youthful females are usually painted in a large format.
